Ergonomics
fitting a job to a person
By observing individuals at work, ergonomics (i.e. the scientific study of people's movements) aims to prevent soft tissue injuries and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) caused by sudden or sustained exposure to forces, vibrations, repetitive motions, and awkward postures. Occupational hygienists and ergonomists advise companies to design their work environments to meet their employees' needs based on their physical capabilities and limitations. We have provided ergonomic recommendations and research on musculoskeletal health on this page.
